Farm is situated on the edge of the village
of Whitchurch Canonicorum ,
in the peaceful, picturesque Marshwood Vale within an area of outstanding
natural beauty.
The West Dorset
Coast is 3 miles from
Courthouse so an ideal location for the perfect holiday. The church in
Whitchurch Canonicorum has its own patron saint buried in a tomb within the
church, and is noted for its healing powers. The Five Bells has an excellent
reputation for a friendly pub that offers meals and outside catering. During
the year there are many activities in the Village Hall and a children’s play
area behind the hall open to all. The public phone box is in the village beside
the Village Hall/children’s play area.
There
are many places to visit locally including Lyme Regis, Charmouth, The Chesil
Beach towards, Abbotsbury with the Swannery and Gardens, Weymouth, the historic
county town of Dorchester, Forde Abbey and Beer model railway, caves and
fishing village. Take a ride on the tram at Seaton and watch the wildlife in
the Axe Estuary. The market towns of
Axminster and Bridport. Walking is very popular along the coastal path to
Golden Cap the highest point of the South
Coast , or up to Pilsdon
Pen one of the highest inland hills for spectacular views. Lots of local
footpaths to explore, to the woods or along the River Char, Lamberts Castle ,
Charmouth Forest , Stonebarrow Hill and Langdon
Woods are all places to park and walk or admire the views. Horse riding, golf,
swimming, fossil hunting, seaside sports and fishing are all local. Nearest train
station is Axminster and public busses on A35 at Morecombelake.
Courthouse Farmhouse is an ‘L’ shaped chalet bungalow that has wonderful country views, its own private garden with lawn and some mature trees, parking and grounds. The lawn is fenced by wooden rails and wire fence to keep children and dogs in and sheep and cattle out. In the garden there are chairs, tables and barbecue.

Shower Room; Shower, washbasin, toilet, shaver point, tile flooring. Hall way area with storage, sink, fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. Upstairs Bedroom 4; has a double divan bed and 2’6 single bed with ensuite shower, toilet, washbasin and shaver point. Upstairs Bedroom 5; has 2 x3’ single divan beds Lounge; 14'6 x 14'2. lounge 3 piece suite with Digital LCD TV with DVD, coffee table, electric wall mounted ‘coal effect’ fire, laminate wood floor, sliding door to the Conservatory 15’x 8’ with 2 settees and 2 single chairs, sliding door to garden. Games/Play Barn ; 48’x25’ with HOT TUB, skittles, table tennis, 6’x3’ pool and snooker tables, darts board (darts not provided due to safety), netball ring and football net to be shared with Courthouse Dairy. Lots of space for ball games around the yard and wooden entrance gates and fencing to keep the children from the lane.
- All bedrooms have fitted carpets, radiators, bedside tables/cupboards, lights, chairs and wardrobes.
- Duvets and 2 pillows per person are provided, also spare blankets and bedspreads.
- Duvet covers, sheets and pillow cases to hire at £8.00 per person per stay, all beds will be made prior to arrival.
- Towels, 1 bath and 1 hand to hire at £6.00 per person per stay.
- Single Futon and travel cot are available, no cot bedding provided.
- Mains water supply, C/H and electric included in the tariff.
- Electric Smoke alarms, a fire blanket and extinguishers provided.
- Well behaved dogs are welcome (no pets Xmas and New Year) at £20.00 per week, but must not be left in the house whilst guests are out by day or night.

On the A35 between Bridport and Charmouth at Morcombelake, turn off to Whitchurch Canonicorum near Artwave. Follow this road for about 1 mile until a four cross road, here turn right and go past the Old Village School , now the Village Hall. Continue until you come to a turning on the left marked Bettiscombe and Marshwood, opposite the Berehayes Holiday Cottages. Take this left turn and Courthouse Farm is approximately 150 meters up this road on the left. Go into the yard and Farmhouse is first on the left and parking is through the double gates in front of the house
The
farm is run with neighboring Cardsmill Farm, where guests can come and watch
the milking, see baby calves, beef animals, sheep, and dogs. Lambing is usually
between February and April. Watch sheep and cattle in the fields in spring and
summer out over the garden fence. We also grow winter wheat, spring barley,
forage maize and various crops for animal feed. We will be pleased to show you
around and answer any questions. We are inspected annually for ABM/FABBL Beef
and Lambs Scheme and NDFAS for milk production.
We
offer comfortable, clean properties that are suitable for families, friends,
reunions and schools.
The Farmhouse can be let separately or for the
really large groups together with the Dairy to sleep 22-24.
