It's that time of year again !

OUR 16TH ANNUAL FARMHOUSE BREAKFAST

The Home Grown Cereal Authorities farmhouse breakfast week runs from the 24th-30th of January 2016.

So come to Whitchurch Canonicorum village hall for a farmhouse breakfast and see a large scale production, usually around 350 breakfasts are cooked for breakfast, brunch or lunch!

This is our 16th year of madness but its all for a good cause of keeping our local hall going.

This year we are making a donation to a Charity(tbc)

Family/Friends early Christmas gathering?

Have you ever thought about having family or friends early Christmas weekend together?

 

We have an extended family who have for several years booked our large S/C property for a weekend in early December. They come from all over the place and always meet up in our central location. They always put the Christmas decorations up and have a traditional Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, open presents and play games.

Healthy Eating Week highlights school children want to visit farms

More than four in five primary age school children have said they would like to visit a farm to find out more about where their food comes from, a new survey from the British Nutrition Foundation has revealed.
The NFU says that these statistics, released for Healthy Eating Week, an event the NFU supports through the Back British Farming campaign, show that food and farming is a subject that people of all ages can engage with and can help them to make more informed choices about the food they eat.

The survey also found:

• 27% of primary school children said they had never helped to cook a meal at home;
• 39% of secondary school children said they would be more likely to buy or eat food if it was produced in the UK;
• 63% of secondary school children use the internet to find out more about how food is produced;
• 8% of secondary school children have never cooked a meal from scratch; (27% haven’t grown food before)
• 70% of teachers are more likely to buy or eat food produced in the UK.

Local event this weekend........Spring tide food festival

The National Trust West Dorset will once again host the Jurassic Fantastic Spring Tide Food Festival at Hive Beach, Burton Bradstock over the weekend of the 16 & 17 May 2015 from 10am - 4pm amid the backdrop of Lyme Bay on Dorset’s iconic Jurassic Coast.

There’ll be lots going on over the weekend for you to see and enjoy with a strong community emphasis that will offer an opportunity to discover and meet the local food producers on your doorstep.

With over 40 stallholders attending, including regular Spring Tiders and new 'foodies' on the block, we'll bring together and showcase some of the best food and drink from across the county featuring an all star line up of locally made artisan bread, jams, chutneys, tea, coffee, beer, cider, wine, cheese, chocolate, cakes, confectionary, charcuterie, fish, meat and veg.

Courthouse farmhouse sleeps 11 (formally farmhouse & cottage)

From December 1st 2014 we did some changes Courthouse Farmhouse and Courthouse Cottage so they are now 1 large property. Courthouse Farmhouse sleeps 11 in 5 bedrooms and it has 3 bathrooms, lounge/conservatory, kitchen/dining room, large enclosed lawned garden and parking area.
